Updated review of Waitrose Bourbon biscuits

For those of you who know me well or follow me either on Twitter or my blog will know that I have a secret obsession with bourbon biscuits. They have always been my guilty pleasure. For quite some time Waitrose bourbons have been my favourite always coming up trumps. However, sadly I think this may have changed. I opened a fresh packet of Waitrose bourbon biscuits this week to enjoy with a nice cup of tea whilst watching some rubbish TV in the evening. On my first bite I thought I was eating a Tesco’s bourbon by mistake. However, I continued to eat the biscuit. I then convinced myself that maybe it was a glitch and that the other biscuits would be different. Sadly this was not the case. They appeared to be very similar in both taste and texture to the recent Tesco’s bourbons that I have tried. The biscuits were grainy and hard in texture and appeared to be lacking in the traditional bourbon biscuit flavour that I enjoy. On a positive note there was still a good portion of cream in between both biscuits and this was still nice and creamy in texture although the flavouring seemed to be slightly different but I’m not quite sure why. I don’t think my taste buds have changed recently so I’m wondering whether Waitrose and Tesco bourbons are made by the same manufacturer now. I am a little disappointed because I always look forward to my Waitrose bourbon biscuits and a weekly basis. However, this just means that I need to be on a new mission to find a new substitute for my Waitrose bourbon biscuits. I think this maybe hard as many say contain or may contain milk which is no good if you are dairy and lactose free. I will also try another packet of Waitrose bourbon biscuits just to make sure it wasn’t a one-off glitch. I hope to keep you all updated on my mission to find my new favourite biscuits. If anyone knows any alternative bourbons to try please let me know, one sad dairy free person.
