As I have been away on my holidays with my family that means gluten food is on the menu for my mum, both when eating in or out. This often means that I can get to try free from food that I may not normally have because it is both gluten and dairy free. We always have a big breakfast to start our day. This normally consists of fresh fruit, cereal and a version of a traditional English breakfast. For the cereal my mum choose Nestle gluten free cornflakes, as I like cornflakes I thought I would give them a try as they were suitable for a dairy and lactose free diet. I decided to have try them with almond milk, as it’s my milk of choice at the moment.

A 100g serving contains 384 calories, 1.1g of fat, 8.3g of sugar and 1g of salt.I always put my milk in the bowl first and then add the cereal. On first appearances they looked like any other cornflakes, in both colour shape and size. On biting into the cornflakes they a good crunch was noted. However, I found them to be dry in texture and bland in flavour.

I was a little disappointed if I am honest and won’t rush out to buy anymore. It is good that there are more gluten free cereals available, but sadly, these particular ones were not for me.
