Review of Twinings Thoroughly Minted Infusion Tea

One of my favourite caffeine free teas has to be mint. I drink it most days as way to reduce my caffeine intake. So when I recently popped into Tesco’s and saw that Twinings thoroughly minted infusion tea was on offer I just had to grab a packet to take home and give it a try.

I personally liked calming light green colour scheme which consisted of white and green swirls. The front of the packaging is partially clear allowing you to see the loose leaf pyramids inside. To the top is a seal which can be reused enabling you to keep the tea fresh inside.

Onto the ingredients list peppermint (70%) and spearmint (30%) are listed. There are no allergens highlighted and there is no may contain warning.

On opening the plastic packaging the loose leaf pyramids pyramid emitted what a very pleasant mint aroma. I found it difficult to distinguish between the two mint elements to this tea. I was a little disappointed by this though as it was a lot weaker than I expected compare to similar teas that I have previously tried. The aroma did intensify on my close up sniff test  but did seem weaken on smelling an individual loose leaf pyramid. I placed a pyramid into my teacup and added the freshly boiled hot water. The water soon changed to the light brown / greenish colour. It took a while for teas aroma to develop. It was very pleasant and significantly lighter compare to other mint teas that I have tried. On sipping the tea, it was definitely one of the weaker mint teas that I have tried. The peppermint was the prominent flavour and worked well with the subtle undertones of the spearmint. Although this teas aroma and flavour were weaker compare to other mint teas that I have previously tried it made a refreshing change. I would describe it as a light, delicate and refreshing tea when comparing its taste to other mint teas that I have tried. Overall I found the tea to be very refreshing and despite it being a lighter more delicate tea I still got that warm comforting sensation in my tummy as I sipped it.

so would I recommend this tea? Yes definitely. It has a nice delicate aroma and flavour. I personally prefer this. I think it would make a nice introduction to mint tea for someone who has not tried it before. So thank you Twinings for producing a nice mint tea that I can enjoy.
