Those of you that follow my blog are aware that my favourite bourbon biscuits are those made by Waitrose. Where possible I always have an emergency stash in my cupboard and always try to take these on holiday with me. On a recent holiday I forgot to take a packet and ended up buying an alternative. This led me to thinking that it’s about time I tried alternatives to see what other options are available out there. Many bourbon biscuits are not a suitable option for me as they either contain dairy or have a may contain traces of milk on the allergen label. I thought I would share my opinions on the ones that are suitable for a dairy and lactose free diet. Any excuse to eat a biscuit. So far all I have tried is Tesco’s own brand bourbons. I tend to get my weekly shop from Ocado, so I thought I would look their free from section and found the lovemore bourbon biscuits. So I thought I would give them a try, especially as I have enjoyed other products they make. Being a specialist free from biscuit they contain no gluten, wheat and dairy products.
They come in a small packet weighing 150g. Each biscuit contains 59 calories, 2.4 g of fat and 2.2 g of sugar. The biscuits themselves of smaller than your typical bourbons. Inbetween the biscuits is sandwiched a good portion size of cream filling. The biscuit part of the bourbon was nice and crunchy with the subtle flavour of chocolate noted. The Cream was light in texture and its flavour worked well in combination with biscuits.
