Review of Barkat Gluten Free Ice Cream Cones

Now that spring is well truly here it’s not really long until the summer. As its a bank holiday I thought I should due a blog about nice sweet treats, in this case about ice cream cones. Now, luckily it is becoming increasingly more easy to enjoy a nice ice cream that is suitable for my dairy and lactose free diet. I mainly eat these straight from the tub most of the time and occasionally from a bowl if we have guests. Now my mum is partial to a nice ice cream, so I thought I would pull out the stops and try and find some ice cream cones that she could enjoy like the ones holiday. The only slight problem is that she is gluten free. It was a lot easier than I thought. A quick search on Ocado and I opted for these. They were suitable for both my mum and myself as they are gluten, wheat, milk, egg, nut and sugar free. So they tick a lot of boxes for several people with food allergies and intolerance. Now the packaging looks inviting with a picture of 2 ice creams on the front of the box. A 5g serving contains 19 calories, 0.1g of fat, 0.1g of sugar and 0g of salt.
On opening the box you discover 2 separate foil packages, ensuring that the cones stay nice and fresh. The cones themselves look like any other ice cream cones. On biting into the cone you get a nice crunch. To me the cone tasted like a simple basic plain biscuit, I personally wouldn’t have been able to tell that they were gluten free. I really enjoyed both the taste and texture of these cones, combine them with a nice ice cream any you have a perfect sweet treat.
I have also given these to friends and family with no dietary restrictions who were not aware I had given them one of my ice cream cones. So I recommend anyone who is looking for a nice ice cream cone and follows a diet either free from gluten, wheat, milk, egg, nut gives these little gems a try. I don’t think that you will be disappointed. So a massive thank you to Barkat for producing a safe ice cream cone that both my mum and I can enjoy.
