As a lady who enjoys her cups of tea on a daily basis I am always on the lookout for new teas to try. I am really enjoying my renewed quest to find new caffeine free teas to try. One of my favourite teas at the moment is camomile. So when I popped into my local Waitrose I grabbed a box of their camomile tea to try.
I liked the pale blue colour of the packaging of this tea with the camomile flowers to the bottom. I personally liked the subtle placement of the wording relaxing and aromatic above the flowers.
Onto the ingredients camomile flowers is listed. There are no allergens highlighted or any may contain warnings listed. On opening the box the teabags were in a sealed foil packaging. This is always a positive trying to keep the tea fresh and seal the both flavour and aroma in. On opening the foil packaging there was a nice grassy aroma that I associate with camomile tea. On my close up sniff test this remained the same. This was significantly weaker on sniffing an individual teabag, but still apparent.
I placed the teabag in my cup and added my freshly boiled hot water. The hot water soon changed to a golden yellow colour. On infusing the tea it immediately produced a faint subtle grassy aroma that I associate with camomile tea. I have to admit this took me by surprise as this has not been the case with other everyday camomile teas that I have tried. I Infused the tea for 5 minutes but I liked that instructions recommended anything from 2-5 until the desired strength is achieved. On sipping the tea it had a light mellow taste subtle grassy undertones noted. The flavour was stronger than I had experienced with other everyday camomile teas and made for a very pleasant change. I also found it to be slightly soothing on the stomach which is always a bonus for me. Overall it was a light and refreshing tea.
So would I recommend this tea? Definitely I enjoyed everything about this tea from its aroma through to its flavour. It is a nice everyday camomile tea. So thank you Waitrose for producing an enjoyable an everyday camomile tea that I can enjoy.
This sounds like a lovely camomile tea!
