Review of T-Sticks The Earls Favourite Tea

I am a girl who loves my cups of earl grey tea. It is my tea of choice and I am always on the lookout for new teas to try. So earlier in the year when I was invited to the FES.TEA.VAL London I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to discover some new earl grey teas. One company that I popped along to see was T-Sticks London I was intrigued by their design. The tea is encased with an aluminium foil case which has perforations which allow the tea to infuse. The stick can then be used to stir the tea and disposed of. As someone who is constantly on the go they seemed like the perfect solution for me to enjoy a cup of tea at meetings where I always take my own tea and often make a mess trying to dispose of my teabag.

I liked the simplicity of the design of the packaging, which is black with a green teacup to the bottom with a T-Stick inside. Sometimes simple is best. Inside the box you are greeted by 15 individually sealed T-Sticks. These are fairly stiff so don’t bend easily and break as a result (I did try this). So perfect to stick in your bag and no concerns about later finding tea remnants in your bag later on (this often happens to me).

Onto the ingredients list black tea (92.6%) and Bergamot extract flavouring. There are no allergens highlighted and no may contain warning.

On opening the an individual T-Stick I was immediately hit by a strong yet delightful aroma of bergamot. I have to confess that this was little stronger than I had anticipated. This didn’t Change on my close up sniff test. I placed my T-Stick into my teacup so that it would be submerged in my freshly boiled water. I infused the tea as instructed for two minutes. The T-Stick was indeed easy to remove and left no remnants behind and was clean and easy to dispose of. I have all my tea milk free but it would indeed make a great stirrer if milk is added to the tea. Once infused the bergamot aroma weakened and the black tea seemed to take centre stage. This was a big positive to me as I was worried that the tea might become too bergamoty. On my close up sniff test the bergamot intensified a little but not much. On sipping the tea it tasted like a good quality black tea with subtle undertones of bergamot noted. Interestingly I can sometimes find black tea little too strong for me as I have my black tea to a medium/weak strength due to having it milk free. This wasn’t the case with this tea. The balance between the tea and the bergamot was spot on.

So would I recommend this earl grey tea? Yes I would firstly I love the design of the T-Stick as its perfect for my busy never in the same place for a long time lifestyle. As for the aroma and flavour of this tea the balance is just right. Quiet often either the tea or the bergamot can slightly overpower each other but this was not the case with this tea. I shall no doubt be buying some more in the near future. So thank you T-Sticks for producing an earl grey tea that I can take anywhere with me.

What a good idea. Are the sticks recyclable, as well?

Hi, I guess that they could be if you remove the tea first.
