Review of Candy Kittens Sour Blueberry Sweets

Now I have to confess to not really having that much of a sweet tooth. Chocolate is my go to sweet treat. Every now and again I get the occasional craving for sweets. When you follow a dairy free diet you can’t just grab a packet and hope for the best you have to study the label. I had seen a lot on social media about Candy Kittens sweets. So when a work colleague kindly bought me a packet of their sour blueberry sweets as a treat I couldn’t wait to give them a try.

I liked the packaging of these sweets. The simple white design with silver circles and the purple top with the complanies name on. There is also a crafty see through window in the shape of a fruit which I assume is meant to be a blueberry allowing you to see the sweets inside. The sweets are also clearly labelled as being gluten free to the front of the packaging. Onto the ingredients list no allergens are highlighted and there is a no may contain warning. However, there is an allergy advice that they are packed in a facility that handles nuts and peanuts.

On opening the packet I was greeted by pink kitten shaped sweets. They looked like great fun. They were eveningly coated in a sugary looking coating some of which was at the bottom of the packet. Their aroma reminded me of Haribo Tangtastics, slightly sweet yet sour at the same time. If I was blinded folded I would not be able to tell that they were blueberry sweets based on the aroma. On biting into the sweet I got immediate sour hit, this followed by a slight sweetness and a hint of blueberry. As for the texture this was soft and slightly gooey but nice and different to your everyday Haribos. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by these sweets.

So would I recommend these sweets if you follow a dairy free and or a gluten free diet. Yes definitely. I liked everything about these sweets from the packaging through to the texture and taste of this naughty treat. So thank you Candy Kittens for producing a packet of sweets that I can enjoy.

Proudly linking up to some of these brilliant linkies

I love tart flavours and might actually like these if I tried them. But I don’t eat candy/sweets at all. I limit my sugar intake to never more than 6 teaspoons in a day and would not be willing to waste that allowance on just 5 of these little sweets–not when I could be having a lovely homemade baked good of some sort with a nice cup of tea!
