Review of BioCare Immune Intensive

Now I like to think as myself as someone who lives a fairly active a healthy lifestyle. I try to have an even balance of a healthy diet and exercise. I lead a fairly busy life and always seem to be on the go and I do to take multivitamins and minerals to try and keep me in optimum health. So when I had the opportunity to review BioCare latest supplement immune intensive I said yes. At the time of starting this review I had just recovered from a virus which involved having a not so delightful headache and sore throat. I certainly needed a little boost to get me back to the regular everyday me.

BioCare are a UK-based Professional Supplement Specialist with more than 30 years worth of industry experience. They have nutrition at the forefront, and they have more than 260 scientifically researched formulations designed for maximum absorption and bio-availability. BioCare Immune Intensive is a potent complex of elderberry, sage, and beta glucans with vitamins C, A, D and Zinc. A potent complex of elderberry, sage and beta glucans with vitamin C, vitamin D and zinc which support a healthy immune system, in a convenient and pleasant tasting powder that can be mixed with liquids for flexibility. They should be taken with food each day. It is dairy free and suitable for vegetarians. It should be noted that it does contain Vitamin A. Do not take if you are pregnant or if you are likely to become pregnant except on the advice of your GP or Midwife.

Onto the supplement itself. I liked the design of the packaging with the white background and subtle gold blue and claret colour scheme. To the top at the front of the packaging is the companies logo with the product details in the centre. Simple but effective. On the back of the packaging is the ingredients list. Corn Maltodextrin, Vitamin C (as Magnesium Ascorbate), Potato Maltodextrin, L-Lysine Hydrochloride, Honey, Elderberry Extract (Sambucus nigra Fruit), Sage (Salvia officinalis Leaf),Cellulose, Raspberry (Rubus idaeus Fruit), Blackcurrant Extract (Ribes nigrum Fruit), Bilberry Extract (Vaccinium myrtillus Berry), Blackberry Extract (Rubus fruticosus Fruit), Blueberry Extract (Vaccinium sp. Berry),Strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Fruit), Beta Glucans, Zinc Citrate, Citric Acid, Modified Corn Starch, Corn Dextrin, Sunflower Oil, Antioxidants (Ascorbyl Palmitate,DL-Alpha Tocopherol & Sodium Ascorbate), Vitamin A (as Retinyl Acetate), Sucrose, Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol)are listed. There are no allergens highlighted and there is a no may contain warning. It is also labelled as being suitable for vegetarians.

On opening the first packet the first thing that struck me was the deep slightly vibrant colour of the powder within the sachet. The aroma sadly didn’t match the colour it was predominantly sage which I personally like with a very faint subtle sweetness from the berries. Now onto taking the supplement the instructions simply state that you can add water or juice of your choice. There is no specifics on as to how much fluid you should add to the powder. I thought this was a little strange as I like to know exactly how much fluid (water or juice) to add so that it is as effective as possible.

Now I only tend to drink water or tea and rarely drink fruit juices or squashes so I used water to blend or mix with the powder. I added the powder to a glass of tap water. It took a while for the powder to mix with the water and I had to keep stirring for longer than I had anticipated to get rid of the small lumps. Onto the aroma well there was a hint of sage noted. On sipping the supplement I was able to taste the sage. If I am honest it was not the most to palatable drinks.

After finishing the 7-day course I finally seemed to get the knack of mixing the powder with the water effectively. It became part of my evening routine as I had mine after my dinner. I have to admit to be not being sure what to expect but remained open minded. At the end of the 7 day course I felt like I had more energy. My remaining virus symptoms had disappeared. Whether that is a result of the high potency vitamins or coincidence I don’t know. That said I would certainly consider having this 7 day course again as a quick me up if I am feeling run down in the future. So thank you BioCare for giving me the opportunity to try your immune intensive supplement.

I really think I need to stop being such a big wimp and try something like this. But I just have visions of all these disgusting things my mum used to give me telling me it would make it all better and I’d be sat there thinking I’d rather be sick! #dreamteam

Sounds good except for the sage – I really can’t stand sage so I will keep looking for something else. I have gone thru several bottles of elderberry syrup trying to avoid the flu this winter. That works for me and I like the taste too. #MMBC

Oh Ive not heard that before about elderberry, interesting. If you don’t like sage it may be best to pass on this then.
