Review of Fruiteatox 14 Day Detox Tea

Now I am a girl who loves her cups of tea. Not a day goes by when I don’t help myself to a cup of tea. It’s fair to say it’s an integral part of my daily routine. Blogging has enlightened my tea palate encouraging me to try a variety of new teas. So when I was Fruiteatox contacted me and asked if I would like to try their 14 day Teatox programme I of course said yes. Fruiteatox is a UK based detox tea company born out of a passion to live a healthy stress-free lifestyle. The teas are made from 100% natural ingredients using real fruit. The 14 Day Teatox includes a pouch of Lemon Daytox Tea containing 14 pyramid teabags to be drunk every morning for 2 weeks and a pouch of Orange Sleeptox Tea containing 7 pyramid teabags to be enjoyed every other night before bed for 2 weeks. All ingredients are naturally sourced, gluten free and suitable for vegans. The teas are said to support weight loss, promote radiant skin and boost your metabolism as part of an active and healthy lifestyle. I have to admit to being a tad unsure of what to expect. To be honest I just wanted to enjoy the teas and if I noticed any of the health benefits this would be a bonus.

Onto the packaging the tea is packed in a simple brown packages. To the top centre is their brand logo and to the bottom it is clearly labelled as either the Daytox or Sleeptox on a white background. Simple but effective. I also liked the ability to easily re-seal the packet to keep the freshness of the tea. On the back of the packets there is information about the tea, how to make your tea and a disclaimer.

Onto the ingredients list. For the Daytox ginseng, ginger root, yerba mate, liquorice root, tie kuan yin oolong, lemon grass, fennel seed, lemon peel is listed. There are no allergens highlighted in the ingredients list. There is a warning that the tea is packaged in a factory that handles nuts. For the Sleeptox chamomile, senna, valerian root, hawthorn leaves, lavender, orange peel, and orange oil are listed. There is a warning that the tea is packaged in a factory that handles nuts.

On opening the Daytox packet I was greeted by vibrant lemon which was very inviting. This remained the same on my famous close up sniff test although weakened slightly on smelling an individual teabag. I added freshly boiled water to the tea and infused as instructed. The water soon changed to the light yellow colour. As the tea infused with the water a delightful and inviting lemon aroma was produced. It reminded me slightly of a Lemsip I mean this in a positive way. I was unable to smell the other elements to this tea and was hoping for a hint of ginger but this really didn’t matter. More importantly the liquorice root didn’t overpower the other ingredients to this tea which is important to me as I can personally find this an overpowering ingredient and has impacted on the aromas of other teas that I have tried. On sipping the tea it was just like its aroma. The lemon took centre stage. It was definitely a lemon tea with faint undertones of ginger root and liquorice noted. It was a shame that I was not able to taste all of the ingredients to the tea, but on this occasion it didn’t matter. It was a comforting soothing yet refreshing tea with a lemon kick.

On opening the Sleeptox packet I was greeted by a mixed aroma of chamomile senna and orange. The senna was quiet overpowering and slightly off-putting. This remained the same on my famous close up sniff test although weakened slightly on smelling an individual teabag. I added freshly boiled water to the tea and infused as instructed. The water soon changed to the light yellow/brown colour. As the tea infused with the water an uninviting senna aroma with faint undertones of chamomile and orange was produced. I was unable to smell the other elements to this tea and was hoping for a hint of lavender. I found the aroma to be quiet off-putting and if I am honest I struggled to start sipping the tea. On sipping the tea I was a little surprised it wasn’t really like its aroma. It was flavour was pretty nondescript-descript and slightly bland. I was able to taste the chamomile but it wasn’t the nicest I have tried, this was intermingled with a very faint hint of senna and orange.

So did I see any benefits from undertaking the 14 day Fruiteatox? I am afraid not. I did not notice any weight loss. I thought it may have initially helped with my bloated stomach but this fluctuates and it was certainly present half way through. As for my skin no change there either. I certainly didn’t have an improved sleep pattern or an extra burst of energy either. On a positive note I really enjoyed drinking the detox lemon. I had it first thing in the morning and I enjoyed its aroma and flavour and found it to be a refreshing yet comforting tea. It was not a tea that I would normally choose to start the day but after this I would certainly purchase daytox lemon tea on its own.

Disclaimer: I received a sample of this tea in return for an honest review. All of the opinions are honest and my own.

What a shame they didn’t really live up to your expectations Chloe (with the exception of the lemon tea). I am a tea belly, but I can’t seem to warm to flavoured teas, no matter how much I try. It may be because the ones I have tried have really put me off.
    Fab review 🙂

Thanks for sharing with #MMBC. Enjoy the rest of your week x

Thank you for your kind comments. It’s a shame you struggle with flavoured teas there are some great ones out there. Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned builders tea though.

Nice to see an honest review. Most people who try detox teas are already sold on the concept – so reviews tend to be very hyped and one-sided.

Interesting. At least you enjoyed the flavour!

Indeed maybe its because I am a morning person as well that I preferred the daytime one who knows.

I never even thought of that, but it would make sense!

Thanks so much for trying our tea and writing an honest review. We find that some people have similar thoughts to yourself – people do tend to gravitate towards the zingy lemon flavour of the Daytox tea! We’re so pleased to hear that you would purchase the Daytox tea to drink on its own and we’ve actually had similar feedback previously which is why we’ve now released a 28-day pack of the the lemon Daytox tea. Thanks again!

I love tea too but I’m yet to find a flavoured tea that I love. The smell usually puts me off before I’ve even tried it. #sharingthebloglove

Hi, I think this is one of the first teas that I have found off -putting in terms of aroma. Hey ho you can’t like everything.

Nice to see an honest review as a lot of people lie when it comes to detox teas. Shame that the teas health benefits didn’t really live up to expectations.

I’m always sooooo skeptical of detox claims I hear from tea companies! Sorry this wasn’t a magical one that works, but I’m in no way surprised. At least the taste is nice…shame the detox claim generally means more $$!

Hi, indeed at the least the daytime one tasted nice, always great to have the opportunity to try them though.

It’s a shame you didn’t notice any difference! I don’t really agree with many of these claims anyways when I read them on detox tea’s!

It’s always good to read an honest review so thank you 💖. I haven’t tried detox teas and always thought they sounded like a bit of a weight loss gimmick. I’m glad I’ve read your review, I think I’ll be sticking with old fashioned diet and exercise he he ☺️ xx

That lemon tea sounds really rather nice, I haven’t tried a lemon one before. Shame about the night time one though, I would have thought lavender should have been quite a powerful fragrance and taste. Like you, I think the lemon one is the one I’d probably purchase on it’s own – although I won’t be holding any expectations for weight loss, haha!

Yes the night time would have been completely different. You can purchase the lemon one by itself as it seems to be s more popular choice.

Indeed yeh for the lemon one.

I could definitely do with improved sleep, but given that I’m not a fan of fruit teas, I don’t think these are for me. Sounds like the lemon one is a winner at least! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
