Review of Provamel Blueberry Yogurts

I enjoy a yogurt most days as part of my packed lunch or as an extra addition to fresh fruit. The choices of vegan yogurts seems to have rapidly expanded. You can now easily pick them up from your local supermarket. Despite this I tend to buy the same yogurts so I thought that was about time that I tried some new yogurts. My first choice was Provamel blueberry yogurt.

I liked the style of the packaging. It’s simple cream background with blueberries cascading into a thick creamy yogurt. Onto the ingredients list. The yogurt is clearly labelled as being gluten free and lactose free. The only allergen listed is soya. There is a may contain warning for almonds and hazelnuts.

On opening the yogurt I was greeted by a medium consistency creamy yogurt. I was a little disappointed by the lack of aroma I was expecting to smell an aroma that I associate with blueberries. Instead I got a slightly sweet artificial aroma that I would describe as berries. On placing the spoon into the yogurt it was slightly creamy in texture with pieces of blueberries intermingled within this. On eating the yogurt I was hit by two textures. The slight creamy texture from the yogurt itself which was very pleasant but this was combined by a horrible grainy texture from the blueberries. I found the grainy textures tad off-putting if I’m honest. I was expecting squishy slightly juicy blueberries not a grainy texture. I found this to be very disappointing. As for the flavour there was a hint of blueberries but nowhere near as strong as I had hoped. In fact I struggled to finish the yogurt, I did finish all four pots in the hope that maybe the grainy texture was a one-off sadly this was not the case. These have to be one of the most disappointing yogurts that I have tried in both terms of both flavour and texture.

So would I recommend this yogurt? I’m afraid not. They seemed to lack any real blueberry flavour and the intermittent grainy texture from the fruit pieces wasn’t very appetising. So if you follow a dairy free, gluten free or a vegan diet I would perhaps try a different yogurt instead. Sorry Provamel this yogurt just wasn’t for me.

I find it amazing how different the products you have access to are from what I can get. We have so few dairy free yogurt options that I guess I just assumed there weren’t that many out there. I’m going to have to get after my grocery store obviously!

    • October 6, 2017 / 10:07 am

Hi, yes there are certainly lots more options now available compared to what there used to be. Maybe we are just lucky.

      • October 6, 2017 / 2:10 pm

        I think you might be:)!

Sorry to hear that this yogurt was a disappointment. I love a good blueberry yogurt too, so I am always looking to try a new variety. Thanks for helping make a more careful choice.

    • October 6, 2017 / 10:05 am

Hi, no problem I am sure there will be a blueberry yogurt out there for me somewhere.

  3. October 6, 2017 / 9:42 am

Shame that this was a bit disappointing for you. It looks nice in the photo but I guess if you want a blueberry yoghurt, you’re expecting a more blueberry flavour.

    • October 6, 2017 / 10:04 am

Hi, I certainly was exacting a stronger flavour never mind more yogurts to try.

  4. October 6, 2017 / 11:42 am

That’s a shame there was a lack of flavour in the yoghurt – you have made me crave a blueberry yoghurt now though… maybe one with more flavour though 😉 Sim x

    • October 8, 2017 / 6:55 pm

I hope that you got to have a yogurt that was nice in flavour, thanks for stopping by.

    • October 8, 2017 / 6:54 pm

      Perhaps a good idea.

  5. October 7, 2017 / 11:46 am

Sorry this was a disappointment. We tend to stick with Greek yoghurt and add our own fruit. Thankfully we don’t have to find things that are free from.

    • October 8, 2017 / 6:44 pm

Hi, maybe I should try a plain yogurt and add fruit instead as I don’t do this very often.

  6. October 7, 2017 / 5:04 pm

it looks good in the picture but i guess from what you’ve said its not good, tho i don’t eat it and so now i will never haha xp :))

    • October 8, 2017 / 6:43 pm

Hi, that might be an idea to give it a miss.

  7. October 7, 2017 / 5:37 pm

Thanks for the tips. I’m not a yogurt eater, but my kids are huge fans. I’ll avoid this one, as I don’t want them to waste food if they don’t like it.

  9. October 8, 2017 / 7:22 pm

Thanks for such an honest review. I love yogurt but I’ll make sure to avoid this one. Sorry to hear the yogurt wasn’t as good as you’d hoped.

    • October 8, 2017 / 8:05 pm

Never mind I shall just find some alternatives to try instead.

  10. October 8, 2017 / 7:22 pm

Ooh it’s a shame you didn’t like them! I feel like vegan yoghurt is difficult to nail down, just the idea of it being grainy sounds awful so I won’t be trying these ones! I do live the alpro yoghurts though

    • October 8, 2017 / 8:05 pm

So do I maybe I should just try their whole range instead.

I don’t really eat yogurt let alone fruit yogurt so this would not have been something I’d buy naturally. Reading your review, i will certainly not buy it. That’s a shame coz I really like blueberries! xx corinne

    • October 8, 2017 / 8:04 pm

Indeed it’s shame maybe I need to have plain yogurt and add blueberries instead.

  12. October 8, 2017 / 7:38 pm

Oh what a shame it wasn’t as hoped a yoghurt Is such a packed lunch staple I’m always afraid to try new things for fear I won’t like!

    • October 8, 2017 / 8:03 pm

I’m afraid that I can also be the same.

  13. October 8, 2017 / 7:42 pm

That’s a shame that this yoghurt was a disappointment for you, but there’s so many brands out there I’m sure you’ll find a tasty one 😊 thanks for being honest with your review! Laura x

    • October 8, 2017 / 8:03 pm

Indeed I am sure i will find a nice Blueberry one soon.

  14. October 9, 2017 / 12:38 am

It looks pretty good in the picture! – I’m sorry it was a disappointment!

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:40 pm

Indeed never mind I shall just have to try some more yogurts.

  15. October 9, 2017 / 8:31 am

I’ve never like most yogurts with fruit as they’re too sweet for my taste. I used to buy a plain yogurt I liked and mix in my own fruit.

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:41 pm

Hi, yes perhaps I need to try this instead.

  16. October 9, 2017 / 8:46 am

Maybe it’s the organic ingredients? Idk; how weird. 🙁 Try the regular Alpro blueberry yoghurt; I promise it’s nice. 🙂 #MMBC x

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:42 pm

Yes, Alpro is the yogurt that I tend to have with my lunch

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:42 pm

Indeed it was I need to try some alternative brands.

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:43 pm

Indeed but never mind there other brands to try.

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:44 pm

Hi, its a good excuse now to try lots of new yogurts.

  17. October 9, 2017 / 4:55 pm

I’m not much of a yogurt person, I only like the ones with “no bits”. Sorry to hear the yogurt didn’t live up to expectations.

    • October 9, 2017 / 4:57 pm

Oh maybe I should try a yogurt with no bits instead.

    • October 9, 2017 / 5:58 pm

I keep trying to find Yoghurts which don’t have grainy texture to them and was looking at this the other day. Glad I didn’t get it now, sad cause it did look pretty. Any you recommend which are smooth and creamy?

    • October 9, 2017 / 5:59 pm

Hi, I like Apro and their GO On range is more expensive but worth the money as thick and creamy in texture.

  19. October 9, 2017 / 7:10 pm

I love yogurt in any form, these look rich and delicious #MMBC

    • October 10, 2017 / 1:30 pm

They do but sadly I didn’t think that they were.

    • October 10, 2017 / 1:29 pm

Hi, yes perhaps not a bad idea.

  20. October 10, 2017 / 10:03 am

I have not tried this yoghurt before. It does look like it is bursting with flavour with the colour too.

    • October 10, 2017 / 1:28 pm

It does but sadly it doesn’t.

  21. October 10, 2017 / 11:46 am

Its a shame you didnt enjoy the yoghurt, Soya makes me super sleepy!

    • October 10, 2017 / 1:28 pm

      I perhaps would.

      Indeed a little disappointing.

  23. October 12, 2017 / 4:24 pm

Hi Chloe, it’s a shame that the yoghurt didn’t live up to expectations, the packaging does make it look appetizing. I hope you find a better one.

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

    • October 15, 2017 / 3:22 pm

I keep falling for the packaging, I am sure that I will find an alternative that I will like soon.

  24. October 12, 2017 / 6:19 pm

Oh what a shame! The packaging looks so lovely too but it’s what inside that counts. Thanks for linking this great and honest review to #DreamTeam x

It sure is what’s inside that counts. Thanks for stopping by.
