Review of Tetley Green Tea

As a lady who enjoys her cups of tea on a daily basis I am always on the lookout for new teas to try. Yet for some unknown reason I tend to drink very little green tea. This is strange as it is a great tea to be enjoyed milk free so it is therefore perfect for dairy free me. I have tried a couple of brands of green tea of varying qualities. A friend kindly gave me a couple of packets of Tetley tea to review the first of which was their green tea.

I liked the simple design of the packaging with this tea. It was green with picture of a green tea leafs to the bottom and the Tetley logo to the top. Onto the ingredients only green tea is listed. There are there no allergens highlighted or any may contain warnings listed.

On opening the packet I was greeted by a fairly strong aroma a grassy meadow with subtle undertones of smokiness that I associate with green tea. This intensified slightly on my famous close up sniff test. I placed the teabag in my teacup and added my slightly cooled freshly boiled hot water. I left the tea to infuse with the hot water as instructed. The hot water soon changed to a light brown/green colour. The aroma from the tea did not intensify and remained the same, even on my close up sniff test. On sipping the tea I could really taste the grassy element with the smokiness element intermingled with this. In fact the grassiness element was slightly stronger compared to other green teas that I have tried. This resulted in a nice light and refreshing tea. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by this green tea.

So would I recommend this green tea, yes definitely. I liked the stronger yet subtle grassy aroma and flavour of this tea. It was a nice refreshing tea. So if you fancy a milk free tea, why not give this green tea a try. So thank you Tetley for producing a refreshing green tea.

  1. Green tea isn’t to my taste, to be honest. My mum used to buy and love ‘Tetleys best of both’: it was a blend of green tea and normal tea, but they don’t seem to sell it anymore

  2. Hmmm, never had Tetley’s before. Compared to the common Lipton and Bigelow, where would you put this tea? Also, yep, for some reason, I don’t drink all that green tea all that much. I tend to drink black teas like Earl Grey.

  3. i have never tasted green tea and i am a tea freak! I am going to be 30 and thinking of switching to green tea. Let me try Tetley first. Thanks for the nice review

  4. Glad to hear a great review of Tetley! I typically buy organic teas from Yogi Tea or Traditional Medicinals. I would have to say green tea is my favorite, followed by hibiscus and other floral white teas

  5. I don’t like hot drinks too much but I do like some green tea from time to time. I’ve heard that green tea can boost your metabolism and I’d love to get into the habit of drinking it more in the mornings. I found once when I drank it in the afternoon, I couldn’t sleep at night!

  6. I will really try this one! I am drinking green tea all the time and I love it. Thanks for sharing!

  7. I haven’t had green tea for ages, this has made me want one!
