Review of Tesco’s Barbecue Tortilla Scoops

I popped into Tesco’s the other day to pick up a few essentials until our regular online food shop was due. My other half fancied some tortilla chips and asked me to pick some up whilst I was shopping. I saw some Tesco’s own brand tortilla scoops in barbecue flavour and thought that they looked interesting. So into my shopping basket they went.

Onto the packaging I liked red packaging and the picture of a bowl of the tortilla scoops. They looked very inviting and if I’m honest I fell for this and this why they said go on buy me as opposed to all of the other tortilla chips. Onto the ingredients list no allergens are highlighted and there is no may contain warning. Oh they are also labelled as being suitable for a vegetarian diet. I have to admit to being a tad excited that I could have these tortilla scoops because I had just assumed that they would not be suitable for my dairy free diet.

On opening the crisps I noted a faint aroma which I would describe as being similar to that of a barbecue sauce with a subtle undertone of tomato noted. This didn’t change on my close up sniff test. The tortilla scoops had an even distribution of flavouring noted on them. On biting into the tortilla scoops there was a nice crunch noted. This then changed to a texture of what I would describe as a nice light floury texture. This was different to other tortillas I have tried but a pleasant change. Onto the flavour I could definitely taste the barbecue flavour initially this was followed by a subtle tomato undertone. I didn’t expect this but the combination of flavours worked well together and we’re pleasant nether the less. Onto a positive note the crisps had a nice crunch and didn’t leave any greasy or powdery residual on my fingers. This is personally a big bonus for me.

So would I recommend these tortilla scoops? Yes I would. The flavour wasn’t quiet as I had expected but it was pleasant. They were not greasy, had a good crunch and didn’t leave a powdery residual on my fingers. Most of all it was great to have a flavoured packet of tortillas that I can enjoy. So if you follow a dairy free or a vegetarian diet why not give these tortillas a try. So thank you Tesco’s for producing a flavoured packet of tortillas that I can have.

I’ve never read a chip review before, but honestly this is exactly what I want in one!! I loved the description of smells and texture in addition to the basic flavor. It’s making me want to go out and buy some!! Great review 🙂

These sound quite tasty! I hate the chips that leave powdery residue on your hands, since that makes them harder to snack on while I work.

Hi They sure are. I personally hate it when you get that residual on your hands. Not good when you are working, Chloe.

These chips look delish. I’m just a bit wary cause I don’t necessarily like flavoured tortilla chips, so I would be hesitant to try them. They still look good, though.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read my latest food review. I like plain flavoured tortillas and often prefer these. However, these made a nice change.
