Review of Tetley Camomile Tea

My quest to reduce my caffeine intake is currently continues. Sometimes it doesn’t always go to plan and I end up having far too much earl grey tea. I recently met up with an old friend for food cups of tea and a good old fashioned gossip. It turned out the venue we met had a buffer style unlimited cups of tea. What can I say except that I was very happy indeed. I started of with my usual earl grey and grabbed a selections of tea to try. Sadly, time just seemed to fly by and I ran out of time to try all of the tea. So I took some home to try at a later date. One of these teas was Tetley camomile tea.

Now onto the tea itself I liked the simplicity of the mellow yellow packaging. I checked the back of the packet and no ingredients were listed. It is just described as a naturally sweet fragrant camomile. I checked on Tetley website for the ingredients it only contains camomile flowers so no allergens highlighted and no may contain warning.

On opening the packet I have to admit to being a tad disappointed. There was only a very faint grassy aroma coming from the teabag. On having a good old fashioned close up sniff there was a faint aroma didn’t intensify. I placed the teabag in my cup and added the hot water. It took what seemed like a long time for the tea to infuse with the water resulting in a pale yellow colour. On infusing the tea produced a very faint grassy aroma that I associate with camomile tea. This didn’t change on my close up sniff test. Even though I let the teabag infuse with the hot water for the recommended time. In fact I left it in my teacup. On sipping the tea it had a light mellow taste which was slightly grassy. It was light, and refreshing but the flavour was no where near as strong as I had hoped. I personally find that most camomile teas provide a slightly comforting and soothing sensation in my stomach. Sadly, this was not the case with this tea.

So would I recommend this camomile tea? I’m afraid not I have tried nicer brands it just seemed to lack any real aroma or flavour. I’m sorry Tetley but this tea really wasn’t for me.

Thanks for letting me know. I bought Tetley Peach and orange and didn’t like it at all. Never tasted orange in any form.
