Review of Clipper Organic Chamomile Calming Infusion

My quest to reduce my caffeine intake continues to go well. I have been working my through a variety of fruit and herbal teas. One tea that I try to now have on a regular basis is chamomile I have tried a few of Clipper’s teas and have been suitably impressed and therefore decided to give their chamomile calming infusion a try.
I’m a sucker for packaging and personally like most of Clippers designs. I liked the light grey colour with the two flowers poking out of a cup of the herbal infusion. As with all the tea in the fruit and herbal range each box contains 20 teabags. Now onto the tea itself it only contains organically grown chamomile so no allergens highlighted and no may contain warning.
On opening the packet I discovered the sealed foil packaging which contained the teabags. On opening this there was moderately strong grassy aroma that I associate with chamomile coming from inside. On doing my good old fashioned close up sniff of the teabags this aroma didn’t intensify. I placed the teabag in my cup and added the hot water. It didn’t take long for the tea to infuse with the water resulting in a medium yellow colour. On infusing the tea as instructed it produced a faint subtle grassy aroma typical of that of a chamomile tea. On sipping the tea it had a very light taste which was slightly grassy. This surprised me as I was expecting it to be stronger in flavour due to its more intense aroma in comparison to other chamomile tea that I have tried. That said it made a pleasant change to have such a light mellow chamomile tea. The only downside to this was that it was slightly less soothing on my stomach compared to other brands I have tried.
So would I recommend this tea yes I would. It is great to have a chamomile tea that is lighter on the palate. I personally think it would make a nice introduction to someone who is new to chamomile tea because of its lighter subtle flavour. So many people I know don’t like chamomile tea and find both its aroma and flavour a little too strong and have been put of trying alternatives. So thank you Clipper for producing another herbal infusion that I can enjoy.
