Review of Pulsin Maca Bliss Raw Chocolate Brownie

Now I’m a girl who likes her chocolate and I would have it most days given half the chance. So when I stumbled across Pulsin maca bliss raw choc brownie bars I just had to give it a try. They could make a nice addition to my mid morning snack list.
I’m not sure why but I was drawn to the deep orangey brown packaging and the small green tree to the front of the packaging. The gluten free labelling jumps out at you straight away. Not so easy to find is the vegan, dairy free, soya free, non GM labelling. This is on the edge of the packaging and in virtually the same colour as the packaging. On the ingredients list the only allergen highlighted is cashews. One ingredient that surprised me was green tea that snuck in at the end of the list.
On opening the packet I was expecting something similar to the recent snack bars that I have tried ie: like the Nakd, or Rude Health snack bars. It was slightly similar to these but it was more like a portion of cake. It was dark with flecks of creamery white from the cashew nuts. There was a subtle hint of cacao noted intermingled with what I would personally describe as something similar to that of an apple cereal bar. It’s texture was also slightly sticky to the outside but not gooey to touch or squishy on prodding it. It also felt very heavy. The best way to describe it is if you remember the early days of the free from market when cakes were heavy and a bit like bricks that’s how it felt. On biting into the bar I got three textures which worked really well together. It was slightly hard on the outside, crumbly inside with the odd crunch noted from the cashews. As for the flavour the cacao really came through and hit my taste buds. It sorted out my chocolate fix for the day. The dates and fruit juices added a slightly sweet element intermingled with this. I loved every element of this snack bar from the flavours through to the textures. All worked perfectly together. To top this of it filled me up nicely until lunch.
So would I recommend this snack, yes I would. It made a refreshing change to have a bar that differs in consistency to those that are like Nakd bars. I loved everything about this bar especially the cacao element. It felt like I was eating a naughty treat. So if you are dairy free like me, follow a gluten free, soya free, or vegan diet give these a try. They make a nice filling sweet treat and have made my mid morning snack list. So thanks Pulsin for producing a nice snack bar that I can enjoy.

Looks really good! Do they have Lara bars where you are? They are my favorite.
