Review of Meridian peanut & banana snack bar

I have been on a mission recently to find new snacks to try for my mid morning munchies. I stumbled across this peanut butter & banana bar in Holland and Barrett. I love my bananas and am a new fan of peanut butter so it ticked all of the right boxes for me to try.
I liked the deep golden yellow and brown colour of the packaging with a picture of pieces of bananas and peanuts to either side. It made me think it would be a great snack to enjoy with a nice cup of tea.
The snack bar itself is clearly labelled as being dairy free, gluten free, soya free and suitable for a vegan diet. The ingredients list highlights peanuts with a may contain warning for nuts and sesame.
On opening the bar there was no real aroma noted. I had hoped for the sweet aroma of ripe bananas. On a closer sniff test that I frequently undertake with food and tea I noted the aroma of peanuts but this was quiet subtle. The bar itself reminded me very much of the Nakd bars and beetroot bar from Rude Health that I have previously tried. It looked like a gooey soft bar with lots of peanuts intermingled in it. On biting into the snack bar it was certainly gooey in texture but this was broken down with a slight crunch from the peanuts. The two textures worked well together. Onto the flavour I could definitely taste the peanuts but struggled to taste the banana element, which was a shame. That said the bar tasted more than just peanuts of what I am not really sure. Maybe this is because I didn’t expect it to be like the Nakd or Rude Health bars and I was wrongly comparing the taste to these.
So would I recommend this snack bar if you follow a dairy free, gluten free, soya free, or vegan diet yes I would. They may not have been as bananary as I had hoped but I liked flavour. I also really enjoyed the slightly crunchy texture of these snack bars. So thank you Meridian Foods for producing a snack bar that I can enjoy. My list of possible mid morning snacks is slowly growing longer.

I wonder if the banana was used to hold everything together.

I’ve been looking for a snack-bar without dates and though I’ve seen these in shops I never though to check these out. Thanks for the review!
