Review of Teagime detox teas

Now I am a girl who loves her cups of tea. Not a day goes by when I don’t help myself to a cup of tea. It’s fair to say it’s an integral part of my daily routine. Blogging has enlightened my tea palate encouraging me to try a variety of new teas. I have heard of teatox but hadn’t really thought about giving it a try. So when I was lucky enough to receive free samples of Teagime detox teas personalised tea programme I admit to being a tad unsure of what to expect. Teagime is a new and upcoming tea detox company based in the UK. You simply register online and fill out a quick and easy questionnaire about your lifestyle and health. From this you receive a personalised two weeks supply of three different teas. One for the morning, afternoon, and one for the evening. You also get two cute reusable tea infusers.
Alongside this you get a detailed card explaining your individual tea blends what they contain and why they were chosen. I have to be honest I’ve always been a bit sceptical about teatox but I think this could be a little unfair as I have never tried it before. I have to say I didn’t read the card detailing the benefits from the tea I was drinking because I didn’t want it to skew my review.

In the morning I had a blend of green tea and basil. The aroma from the tea leaves before they infused with hot water was lovely. You could really smell the basil element and the subtle smell of the green tea. I couldn’t wait to give it a try. On sipping the tea the basil element strengthened and was refreshing yet soothing. I could taste a hint of green tea but this was subtle. I drank the tea as part of my morning routine which means 2-3 mugs of tea. I personally found the aroma and taste to be comforting, it was a bit like a hug in a mug. What I noticed immediately after drinking this was that I was weeing a lot and in large volumes. Sorry, perhaps a little too much information.

The afternoon tea consisted of more green tea combined with mint and goji berries. The goji berries I have to say looked a tad strange in a tea but hey it was for health benefits. I found this tea to be a lot more subtle in both its aroma and flavour. The most noticeable part was its mint undertones in both aroma and flavour. It made for a nice light refreshing afternoon tea.

On to the evening blend. I often have a chamomile tea prior to bed, so I was looking forward to giving this a try. I was personally unable to smell all the ingredients within this tea. The two predominant aromas were the blackcurrant with the subtle peppermint. I experienced the same on sipping the tea, not really being able to taste the liquorice or hibiscus elements. It made a nice change to my usual chamomile tea. If I’m brutally honest I prefer my chamomile tea as I find it more comforting and soothing on my stomach.
So would I recommend giving Teagime teas, yes I would. Their teas were certainly tailored for my individual needs. They clearly contained fresh ingredients as they had a short shelf life. I enjoyed both the aroma and flavours of all three tea blends that I received. My favourite tea for both aroma and flavour had to be the morning tea, whilst the most refreshing was the afternoon blend. Did I honestly notice any benefit from my two weeks teatox, yes I did. I was certainly less bloated and my trousers were noticeably looser. My skin also appeared to be subtlety brighter and it felt different, more supple. Did my digestive system feel any different, not really but I was less bloated so the teas must have done something. Finally, was my sleep pattern improved, no it was pretty much the same. I should also say that I did not change anything in my diet, or lifestyle whilst trying these teas.

Disclaimer: I received free samples to try and review Teagime. All opinions in this review are honest and my own.

Hi, thank you. It may be worth checking their website to see if they will send it abroad, you never know.

Great review, I am interested in learning more about the brand. My question for you is how long do these steep? Some of the ones over here take 10 minutes or more!

Hi, I just left the infuser in the hot water until I had finished the teas. This was just down to my personal taste. I drink my tea fairly hot, so it would have been a couple of minutes. This seemed to work and allow enough time for the teas to infuse, Chloe.

This seems like it’s a lot different from the Teatoxes we have in the United States.

Hi, I’m not sure to be honest as this is the first one I have tried. What I personally liked was the personalisation of the teas and their fresh ingredients.

In the USA a lot of the teatox teas have laxative properties. The brands that are popular in the United States are BooTea (a UK) brand, Lyfe Tea, Skinny Tea, Fit Tea and a lot of others.

A lot of teatoxes in the USA are pretty much laxatives. There’s companies such at BooTea, LyfeTea,

        • May 11, 2016 / 8:56 pm

          No laxatives in these teas.

          • May 11, 2016 / 8:58 pm

That’s a good thing. All the teas that I listed have senna in them, which is approved by the FDA.

I love tea! Do you know if they have it here in U.S.?

    • May 12, 2016 / 9:12 pm

Hi, it’s a new company based in the UK. You could contact them to ask if they are able to export to the US. I hope that this helps, Chloe.
