I somehow found myself in Starbucks again. I desired a nice cup of tea and cake. If I am honest I also needed a bit of caffeine fix so didn’t choose a herbal tea. I opted for one of my favourite teas, earl grey. Being dairy free there wasn’t any cakes or sweet treats for me to enjoy. Luckily, I had one of emergency snacks with me.
I opted for their regular size because I only had a short time. The tea bag was in the usual Starbucks style. I couldn’t really distinguish any obvious differing ingredients inside. The hot water immediately infused with the teabag turning the water a medium brown colour. On sniffing the tea I noted a faint aroma of bergamot but the black tea seemed to overpower this. On sipping the tea I struggled to taste the bergamot and found it difficult to distinguish the citrus elements. The tea didn’t take long to start becoming strong. So I had to remove the teabag as I like to enjoy my earl grey of a medium strength milk free.
So would I recommend this earl grey tea, it was ok and hit the spot. However, I was a tad disappointed if I am honest. I struggled to taste the bergamot element to this tea which is what I would expect of an earl grey tea. It tasted like a run of the mill black tea that had a little bergamot thrown in for luck. I much preferred Pret a Manger earl grey tea. Sorry Starbucks this tea was not for me. when I visit again I will be sticking to the mint tea.
