Review of PG tips peppermint herbal infusion tea

Now I am a girl who loves her cup of tea. I try to enjoy a variety of teas on a daily basis especially those which are caffeine free. One of my favourite teas is mint and I am always on the lookout to try new varieties. I happened to stumble across PG tips peppermint tea and thought I should give it a try.

I have to confess to being drawn to the packaging. The size of the box was perfect I liked the simplicity of the green leaves and blue circles around the PG logo to the front of the box. I couldn’t resist the picture of the monkey and the verse next to him on the back. On the side of the packaging there is a simple picture illustrating how to enjoy your little tea pyramid.

On opening the box I was surprised by the strong scent of peppermint, which was invigorating to my senses. I personally liked this but I think others may find its strength to be a little overpowering. Inside I was greeted by the individual pyramid teabags and not being a drinker of PG tips I found this to be a nice change to a regular teabag. I popped the pyramid into a mug of hot water awaiting for the tea to infuse with it. The instructions advise leaving the pyramid in the hot water for 4-5 minutes. However, it did not take long for the water to soon change to the green / brown colour that I expected. There was a faint mint aroma noted but this weaker than I expected due to the strong aroma on opening the box.

On sipping the tea I could clearly taste the peppermint although it wasn’t as strong as I was expecting. On a positive note I think that this was a good thing as it was not an overpowering artificial flavour as I thought that it might be due to the strong aroma coming from the box. I found the tea to be very refreshing. I got a slight warm comforting sensation in my tummy, although this was not as pleasant as other mint teas that I have tried. So would I recommend this tea, yes definitely. They will make a nice cup of caffeine free tea to enjoy at work. So thank you PG tips for producing a nice peppermint tea that I will be purchasing these again in the future.

  1. This sounds nice. I don’t think I’ve tried the PG tips version before. I like a strong peppermint flavour so I imagine I’d use two bags! Thanks for this post!

    • Hi, thanks for your kind comments about this tea review. I also like my mint tea strong and When I left the tea pyramid in it was fairly strong so you may not need to double up on the tea. I hope that this helps C 😀.
