Review of Matthew Walker Gluten Free Christmas Pudding

I have personally found it more difficult to find free from Christmas puddings that are dairy free. This year. I stumbled across this pudding so I thought I would give it a try. It is marketed as being gluten free but the only allergen listed are eggs.
The pudding was quick and easy to reheat. On pricking the plastic sleeve a strong aroma of Christmas noted. I just wanted to dive in but I had to reheat it first.
I heated it in the microwave and let it rest as instructed. It transferred easily upside down from the pot. It stayed in one piece. It had a nice rich aroma of christmas pudding. I just wanted to dive in. It was the perfect portion size for me. I opted to have it with cold Alpro custard.
On biting into the pudding it was moist with a slightly gooey texture, which I wasn’t particularly keen on. It seemed to slightly wobble onthe plate as if it was jelly. Now onto the flavour this wasn’t to rich or overpowering. I was surprised by the good quantity of fruit noted which you could easily taste. I was pleasantly surprised by the chunks of cherries. As for the alcohol element there was a subtle but not overpowering hint of brandy.

So would I recommend this Christmas pudding for those who follow a dairy and it gluten free diet? Probably not. I would have this again mainly for the perfect portion size for 1. However, if I am honest I have eaten nicer Christmas puddings. I enjoyed the flavour but it’s texture just let it down. I am sorry Walkers but this Christmas pudding wasn’t really for me.
