Review of Burgen Gluten, Wheat & Dairy Free Sunflower & Chia Seed Bread

It’s guest post time courtsey of my mum…. I came across Burgen gluten free bread in Sainsburys, which I had not seen previously. I have seen the normal Burgen bread and was aware that it has been suggested beneficial for ladies of a certain age going through the menopause.
There are two varieties of gluten free Burgen bread – the Sunflower and Chia that I tried – and Soya and Linseed, although I haven’t seen this in the shops yet. Firstly I tried the bread “fresh” as a tuna sandwich. It was quite nice, not too doughy and fairly soft. Also whilst there are seeds these were easy to eat, just enough crunch and tasty. However it was delicious toasted with a little lime marmalade. I look forward to trying the Soya and Linseed loaf.
Burgen states that the bread is healthy without artificial preservatives or flavours and suitable for vegetarians.
As you would expect, the bread is made in a dedicated GF and wheat free bakery and is certified by Coeliac UK. Also dairy free.
