Review of ds (Dr Schar) Gluten Free White Ciabatta Rolls

I received these rolls by default as a substitute for our usual rolls we receive from our online grocery shop. I was quiet looking forward to giving them a try, but my other half wasn’t so keen. I have tried other products from their range and have been suitably impressed. These rolls are clearly aimed for those who follow a gluten free diet, but are also suitable for the dairy lactose free peeps out there like me. It’s not uncommon for me to eat gluten free products in particular bread. Not only because my mum is gluten free but because soo many breads seem to contain cows milk or its derivatives. The only allergen listed on these rolls is soya and lupin is listed as a may contain. The packaging is simple and In the typical ds branding style, which I personally like. Each roll contains 109 calories, 0.9g of fat, and 0.050g of salt.
The rolls have clear instructions on how to refresh them, we choose to do this as we were planning on having warm rolls for lunch. We heated them as instructed for 10 minutes. I was surprised as there was a nice aroma but not as strong as you get when with freshly cooked bread. They refreshed well, and went a light golden colour to the top, which was slightly crispy in appearance. I was suitably impressed and couldn’t wait to give them a try. The rolls were easy to cut in half, with the combination of textures becoming more apparent. The top of the rolls were slightly crunchy with the inside looking light and slightly fluffy. On bitting into the rolls I definitely experienced the combination of the two textures. I enjoyed the subtle crunch on the initial bite and was highly surprised the light fluffy slightly bouncy texture inside. This was much nicer than other gluten free rolls I’ve tried which can be a little hard going and dry. I really enjoyed these rolls, my other half was also suitably impressed although he said he could tell they were gluten free. Let me tell you he is difficult to please, so that in itself is a big recommendation to try these rolls. As a result I forgot to take a picture of the rolls, oops. It’s a shame really because they were filled with really nice gluten free sausages and would have made a nice picture. So if you are gluten free or follow a dairy / lactose free diet give these rolls a try. I think you like them. So thanks ds (dr Schar) for making some fantastic gluten free white ciabatta rolls.

    I love these rolls because they have such a great fibre content which can be hard to find in gluten-free products! 🙂

      This is a bonus in addition to their nice flavour and texture.
