Review of Riverbank Bakery Norfolk Cinamon Flapjack

Well this was one of the little gems that I found on my recent holiday to Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Now I have liked flapjack for as long as I can remember, but you’ve guessed it being dairy and lactose free makes the choices quiet restrictive. When I found that this was milk and egg free, the only allergens listed were oats and gluten. There was a may contain warning for nuts and soya.I had to buy it as it would have been rude not to. Or I am honest I would have sulked because I didn’t get it. I decided to save the flapjack for when I was at home to enjoy. As the weather has been nice lately I decided that I should enjoy it outside in the garden in the nice spring sun with a nice mug of hot tea. The packaging is clear so you can see the flapjack inside saying eat me. It is fairly high in calories, so for me was enjoyed as a sweet treat. The calories are worked out per a 100g serving which contains 424 calories, 19.96g, 28.05g sugar and 0.1g of salt.
On opening the wrapper I was immediately hit with the aroma of cinnamon, this was too strong or overpowering, but spot on. It just made me want to dive in. On biting into the flapjack it was nice and moist and not dry at all. I was pleasantly surprised by this as other pre packed flapjack I’ve tried has been on occasion. The margarine and oats were nicely binded together and this with the subtle flavour of the cinnamon was spot on. I really loved this flapjack, the portion size was spot on, any more for me would have been to sickly. I googled Riverbank Bakery to see where I can find this flapjack, sadly their website is under construction. What I did find was a vegan review of one of their cakes. My only regret now was not buying several packets. So thank you Riverbank Bakery for producing a totally enjoyable flapjack. On my next trip to Suffolk I will have to stock and try some of your other cakes, which of course I will have to review. It will be interesting to see what of their cakes are also egg free and suitable for vegans. So thank you Riverbank Bakery you have made a dairy and lactose free person very happy.
