Review of Whole Earth Organic Cornflakes

Due to the sudden change in weather and the beautiful sunny spring days we have been experiencing I felt that it was time to change my breakfast. My winter breakfast has mainly consisted of weetabix or granola. Both of which are very filling and keep me going during the cold winter months. Whilst undertaking my online shopping in the free from section I came across the Whole Earth organic cornflakes, now I quiet like cornflakes so I thought I would give things a try. Being that they were in the free from section they were labelled as being gluten free suitable for vegetarians and vegans. They also contain no dairy products and were therefore suitable for my diary and lactose free diet. The label states that the product may contain traces of nuts and sesame seeds and that it contains soya lecithin.

A 30g portion with 125 mls of semi skimmed milk contains 169 calories, 2.4g of fat, 7.5g of sugar and 0.6g of salt. The cornflakes look the same as any other cornflakes you would buy, being golden in colour. I had mine with almond milk. I have to confess to being pleasantly surprised. On bitting into the cornflakes they were light yet crispy. They tasted like other brands of cornflakes that I have previously eaten. However, I personally preferred these. I didn’t need to add extra sugar because they had a subtle sweet taste to them, which is always a good thing. I enjoyed the fact that they didn’t go soggy and remained crisp despite being in a bowl of milk.

I would definitely recommend that anyone gives these a try, and not because you follow a gluten free diet. I think these will become a staple in my kitchen cupboard. Thank you Whole Earth for producing such enjoyable cornflakes.
